Terroristattacker i Israel

Soldiers under threat: Christian IDF recruits subject to attack (Jerusalem Post)
"The compulsory military draft does not apply to them, but the values they grew up on and the strong desire to integrate into Israeli society has spurred in recent years a growing trend of Christian enlistment in the IDF and other security forces.

However, their willingness to enlist in the Israeli army and to contribute to the security of the country sometimes exacts from them a heavy price. Christian soldiers sometimes find themselves threatened by their Muslim neighbors and are the recipients of violent attacks. They have learned well the rules of engagement, they are skilled in the use of weapons, however, they struggle to cope with the violence bubbling up in their own backyards, and most of them say that they are afraid to return home in uniform...

...One of the people who was supposed to be interviewed for this article is a senior Christian officer in the IDF who promised to talk about the soldiers' distress and his struggle for them. When he awoke on the morning that the interview was scheduled, he found a Palestinian flag on the door of his home together with a harsh warning. After making sure that an explosive device was not planted in his car, the officer called and asked not to be interviewed. "I'm going to the base for two weeks and am leaving behind a family under threat. I'll forgo the exposure if you don't mind," he said..."

(Palestinian Media Watch)
Saeb Erekat on imprisoned terrorists:
"Our brave prisoners...We bow our heads in admiration and honor of the prisoners' sacrifices [and] for their acts of heroism"

The Palestinian Authority often assures its people that among its top priorities is the release of Palestinian prisoners in Israel - most of whom are convicted for terrorist crimes including murder.

Chief PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat recently reiterated this, terming actions of terrorist prisoners as "acts of heroism", and stating that Palestinians "bow [their] heads in admiration and honor of the prisoners' sacrifices, for their acts of heroism":

"Our brave prisoners, who gave and sacrificed their freedom for Palestine and its freedom, are worthy of aid, support, and constant activity by us in order to release them and put an end to their suffering. The prisoners' cause is a national and central cause, and we bow our heads in admiration and honor of the prisoners' sacrifices, for their acts of heroism, and for their ongoing battle with the occupation."
[Official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 19, 2016]

Among the prisoners whose actions Saeb Erekat would be admiring are:

Abdallah Barghouti
- serving 67 life sentences for preparing explosives for terror attacks in which 67 people were murdered: Sbarro restaurant (15 killed, Aug. 9, 2001, Jerusalem), Sheffield Club (15 killed, May 7, 2002, Rishon LeZion), Moment Café (11 killed, March 9, 2002, Jerusalem), triple attack at Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall (11 killed, Dec. 1, 2001, Jerusalem), Hebrew University (9 killed, July 31, 2002, Jerusalem), and Bus 4 in Tel Aviv (6 killed, Sept. 19, 2002).

Ibrahim Hamed
- serving 54 life sentences for planning suicide attacks, including the suicide bombings at Hebrew University (9 killed), Cafe Moment (12 killed), Cafe Hillel (7 killed), Zion Square in Jerusalem (11 killed).

Abbas Al-Sayid
 - serving 35 life sentences for planning two suicide bombings, one at a Passover dinner at the Park Hotel in Netanya (30 killed, March 27, 2002) and another outside a shopping Mall in Netanya (5 killed, May 18, 2001).

Palestinian Media Watch has documented that the PA and PLO reward all imprisoned terrorists with generous monthly salaries and that foreign donor money facilitates them. Click to read more about this in PMW's latest report The PA's Billion Dollar Fraud.

The following is a longer excerpt on the report on Erekat's statement:

Headline:  "Erekat: The prisoners' cause is central and the activity for their release continues"
"Crowds of the Jericho and [Jordan] Valley district expressed full solidarity with the prisoners in the occupation's prison and resistance to the steps of oppression against the brave prisoners. They demanded that the international community get involved in order to put an end to the suffering of the prisoners.
A solidarity rally was held opposite the Red Cross building in the center of Jericho, with the participation of Secretary-General of the PLO Executive Committee [and Fatah Central Committee member] Saeb Erekat and District Governor of Jericho and the [Jordan] Valley Majed Al-Fatiani...
Erekat said: 'Our brave prisoners, who gave and sacrificed their freedom for Palestine and its freedom, are worthy of aid, support, and constant activity by us in order to release them and put an end to their suffering. The prisoners' cause is a national and central cause, and we bow our heads in admiration and honor of the prisoners' sacrifices, for their acts of heroism, and for their ongoing battle with the occupation.'
District Governor Al-Fatiani emphasized that the prisoners' cause is at the head of the priorities of [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas, and that the president and the Palestinian leadership are making every effort in order to put an end to their suffering."

New PA school named for mastermind of Munich Olympics massacre

- PA official on importance of school's name: "To commemorate the memory of this great national fighter"

- School in West Bank named after Salah Khalaf, head of Black September terror group. Attacks he planned include murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics and murder of 2 American diplomats in Sudan

 - PA Ministry of Education is responsible for naming schools

- This is the 4th PA school named after terrorist Salah Khalaf

The following is the report in the official PA daily on the new school:

Headline: "Tulkarem District Governor lays the cornerstone of the first stage of the school named after Martyr Salah Khalaf"
"Tulkarem District Governor Issam Abu Bakr laid the cornerstone of the first stage of construction of the school named after Martyr (Shahid) Salah Khalaf [Abu Iyad] (i.e., terrorist responsible for murder of more than 11 Israelis) in the eastern neighborhood of Tulkarem. This was with funding from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in Kuwait, and with the participation of [Tulkarem] Mayor Iyad Al-Jallad and Head of the [Tulkarem] Education Directorate (i.e., under the PA Ministry of Education) Salam Al-Taher...
Abu Bakr emphasized the importance of the project of the construction of the school named after Martyr Salah Khalaf, in order to commemorate the memory of this great national fighter."
[Official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Sept. 24, 2016]

Salah Khalaf (Abu Iyad) - One of the founders of Fatah and head of the terror organization Black September. Attacks he planned include the murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics (Sept. 5, 1972) and the murder of two American diplomats in Sudan (March 1, 1973). It is commonly assumed that his assassin, a former Fatah bodyguard, was sent by the Abu Nidal Organization, a rival Palestinian faction.

Palestinians threaten against opposition to UNESCO Jerusalem vote Jerusalem Post)
“They are broadcasting a message that says don’t abandon us or we’ll burn the house down with extremist anti-Israel resolutions,” said Shama-Hacohen. He added that such resolutions would only cause tremendous damage to UNESCO, under whose umbrella the WHC operates.

Such threats and ultimatums only serve to reveal the true face of the Palestinians as “thugs” and “liars,” Shama Hacohen said.

Israel is in the midst of an intense diplomatic effort to prevent a consensus vote on the Jerusalem resolution, Shama-Hacohen said. “The letter and the ultimatum from the Arab states is a sign that we are going in the right direction,” he said.

Observera!

Palestinians announce year-long campaign against ‘crime’ of Balfour Declaration The Times of Israel)
Calling the declaration a “colonialist project,” Taysir Khalid, a member of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), said Monday the new Palestinian effort was intended “to remind the world and particularly Britain that they should face their historic responsibility and to atone for the big crime Britain had committed against the Palestinian people.”
In July the PA said it was preparing a lawsuit against the British government over the 1917 document that paved the way for the creation of the State of Israel.

PA Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki said at the time that London was responsible for all “Israeli crimes” committed since the end of the British mandate in 1948.

The decision, al-Malki said, “gave people who don’t belong there something that wasn’t theirs.”

Männen hölls fängslade i fyra dagar men frigavs söndag kväll.

PA releases Palestinians arrested over sukka visit (The Times of Israel)
"...A senior Palestinian security official said Sunday that “any Palestinian cooperation with settlers is viewed as violating the law, as he cooperates with the enemy.” He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not permitted to discuss the matter.

Efrat Mayor Oded Revivi, who hosted the gathering, called on the Palestinian Authority to release his guests.

“It is absurd that having coffee with Jews is considered a crime by the Palestinian Authority,” he said. “Initiatives that seek to foster cooperation and peace between people should be encouraged, not silenced. It’s time the Palestinian Authority asks itself whether it would prefer to fan the flames of conflict instead of working to bring people together.”

Netanyahu on Sunday lashed out at rights groups, often vocal in their criticism of Israel, for what he said was their reluctance to condemn the imprisonment of the Palestinians.

“Where is the outrage of human rights organizations? There is none. To their great shame, they are silent,” Netanyahu wrote on Facebook. “I call on the international community to work to help free these innocent Palestinians whose imprisonment is yet another proof of the Palestinian refusal to make peace.”

Observera!

UNESCO resolutionen ur palestinsk synvinkel

Abbas advisor: "Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular, and the Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., Western Wall)... are all purely Islamic and Palestinian assets" (PMW)
Friday sermon in presence of PA Chairman Abbas, on official PA TV, on Oct. 14, 2016

Mahmoud Abbas' advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, Mahmoud Al-Habbash: "Jerusalem is occupied Palestinian land. Jerusalem is the property of the Palestinians. The UNESCO resolution yesterday [Oct. 13, 2016] is a victory for the truth. It is a victory for justice. It is a victory for the true history of this land and for all of humanity. UNESCO's resolution confirms what we think and believe in, that Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular, and the Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., Western Wall) and the Al-Buraq [Wall] plaza are all purely Islamic and Palestinian assets and no one has the right to be our partner in that. No one has the right. We are the owners and we have the right to it. Only the Muslims have the right to the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] and the Al-Buraq [Wall] and the Al-Buraq [Wall] plaza which is purely Islamic waqf property... This is a message to Israel from us (i.e., the Palestinians) that we have the right and from all of the international community. [The message] from us is that we will not renounce our right as long as we live. And even if we die, future generations will follow us from our sons and grandchildren who will adhere to this right."

In addition to being Abbas' advisor, Mahmoud Al-Habbash also serves as the PA's Supreme Shari'ah Judge and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice.

Hamas kommentar: (The Times of Israel)
Hamas hails UNESCO’s formal adoption of a resolution effectively denying Jewish and Christian ties to Jerusalem as “a victory for the Palestinian people.”

Sami Abu Zuhri, a spokesman for the Palestinian terror group, says Hamas welcomes the resolution that confirms “Al-Aqsa [Mosque] is of purely Islamic heritage.”

According to Zuhri, the resolution “demolished the Israeli fiction” about the sites considered to be the most sacred in Judaism.

UNESCO ratifies Jerusalem resolution, Mexico withdraws support

UNESCO’s executive board adopts Jerusalem resolution

UNESCO chief ‘received death threats’ for opposing Jerusalem motion

Läs vad Yair Lapid skriver: How UNESCO erases history (The Times of Israel)
"...This resolution is so extreme, and its motives so offensive that it even created discomfort within UNESCO. The Chairperson of the UNESCO Executive Board apologized for it and said that regarding the Jewish connection to Jerusalem he is, “very well aware of that and personally would never deny that.” The Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, distanced herself from the decision and clarified that “Jerusalem is the city of King David.” I take my hat off to them both for their honesty but it only emphasizes the madness: two leaders of UNESCO have to state publicly that what is written in the Bible and in the history books is right, because the organization they lead argues the opposite.

I wasn’t surprised. The obsession of some UN organizations towards Israel is no secret. In the past decade, the UN Human Rights Council has passed 61 resolutions condemning human rights violations across the world, from the 400,000 murdered in Syria through Afghanistan to Iraq and other conflict zones in the world. In that same decade, the organization passed 67 resolutions condemning Israel. That isn’t a typographical error. The UN Human Rights Council has condemned Israel, a democracy that abides by international law and protects minority rights, more times than the rest of the world combined.

Other UN organizations have also taken part in this madness. In 2014, for example, the UN General Assembly had 24 condemnation resolutions and 20 of them were against Israel, while only 1 dealt with Syria. The World Health Organization condemned only one country in its last report, Israel. The condemnation focused on what the World Health Organization called “the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights.” It didn’t mention the fact that on the other side of the Golan Heights, in Syria, tens of thousands of children are being murdered and that Israel’s only involvement in health issues is that we bring injured children from Syria into our hospitals for treatment...

...A side from the fact that the resolution is scandalous, it’s also dangerous. The Temple Mount is the most sensitive site in the Middle East, maybe the world. The wave of terrorism against Israel this past year broke out because of conspiracy theories, spread by Islamic fundamentalists, that Israel was trying to change the status quo on the Temple Mount. Israel stated and explained that we have no intention of changing the status quo or impinging on Muslim rights. I’m a member of the opposition government in Israel, but on this I can testify that our government speaks the truth and stands by it, despite the difficulties.

When young Palestinians who have already been fueled by incitement against Israel read a decision like this one by UNESCO, they become convinced that the conspiracy theories are true. The next stage is that they take a knife, a gun or a Molotov cocktail and carry out a terror attack. People will die. Innocent people who have done nothing wrong will die. That’s usually what happens when irresponsible organizations get involved in complex situations which they don’t understand.

When UNESCO’s Executive Board votes to ratify this resolution those countries who abstained should cast a real vote and take a stand. They can stand for history, facts and truth or they can admit they have a problem with Jews, which is just a reminder why our people need a strong and free country."

Tragedin i Syrien fortsätter

Dozens killed as airstrikes target Aleppo residences

Mahmoud Abbas hedrade terrorist igen

I lördags tog palestiniernas president Mahmoud Abbas emot Yasser Hamdounis familj i palestinska myndighetens högkvarter i Ramallah.

UNESCO chief pans member states on anti-Israel Jerusalem resolution (The Times of Israel)

Though she did not explicitly mention the resolution, Irina Bokova made her disapproval of the motion clear, saying any efforts to deny history and the city’s complex multi-faith character harm UNESCO.

“The heritage of Jerusalem is indivisible, and each of its communities has a right to the explicit recognition of their history and relationship with the city,” Bokova said in a statement.

Bokova noted that the “cultural and spiritual traditions” of all faiths in Jerusalem “build on texts and references, known by all, that are an intrinsic part of the identities and history of peoples.

“To deny, conceal or erase any of the Jewish, Christian or Muslim traditions undermines the integrity of the site, and runs counter to the reasons that justified its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage list,” she said. “When these divisions carry over into UNESCO, an organization dedicated to dialogue and peace, they prevent us from carrying out our mission.”

FIFA head: Fixing the Israeli-Palestinian soccer crisis is a priority (Jerusalem Post)
Legal expert Eugene Kontorovich argued in a Washington Post opinion piece that the settler teams are not a violation of FIFA rules.

“Nothing in the FIFA statutes equates ‘territory’ with sovereign territory. Instead, territory, as is often the case in international texts, means jurisdiction.

“This is because FIFA is not a border demarcation body.

That is why FIFA clearly separates any question of sovereign statehood and territory from FIFA membership, by not requiring that member federations be recognized states,” he wrote.

Algeriet, Bangladesh, Brasilien, Chad, Kina, Dominican Republic, Egypten, Iran, Libanon, Malaysia, Mauritanien, Mexico, Marocko, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Ryssland, Senegal, Syd Afrika, Sudan och Vietnam.

Albanien, Argentina, Cameroon, Cote de’Ivoire, El Salvador, Spanien, Frankrike, Ghana, Grekland, Guinea, Haiti, Indien, Italien, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Uganda, Paraguay, Syd Korea, St. Kits and Nevis, Slovenien, Sri Lanka, Sverige, Togo, Trinidad and Ukraina.

UNESCO votes: No connection between Temple Mount and Judaism (Jerusalem Post)
After the vote, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that “UNESCO’s theater of the absurd continues” and added that with this vote, the organization lost what little legitimacy it had.

“Today the organization took yet another hallucinatory decision that says that the people of Israel have not connection to the Temple Mount or to the Western Wall,” Netanyahu said.

“Forget about asking if they have read the Bible. I suggest that UNESCO member visit the Arch of Titus in Rome. There you can see what the Roman brought to Rome after they destroyed and looked the Temple which stood on the Temple Mount 2,000 years ago.

“Engraved in the Arch of Titus you can see the seven-branched Menorah, which was and remains a symbol of the Jewish people and is also a symbol of today’s Jewish state,” he said.

“Soon UNESCO will say that UNESCO will say that the Emperor Titus was in the business of Zionist propaganda,” he said.

“To say that Israel has not connection to the Temple and the Western Wall is like saying that China is not connected to the Great Wall of China or the Egypt has no connection to the pyramids,” Netanyahu said.

The Prime Minister added, “I believe that historical truth is more powerful and this truth will prevail.”

UNESCO to vote on resolutions ignoring Jewish ties to Temple Mount (Jerusalem Post)
"...In advance of that vote, Israel’s Mission to UNESCO in Paris, has given board members and international diplomats a brochure detailing the deep historical connections Judaism has to those sites, which are also holy to Christianity and Islam.

“These facts and evidences will leave no doubt, and without undermining other connection of other religions to the holy places in Jerusalem, of the deepest and longest Jewish presence in Jerusalem since ancient times,” Israel’s Ambassador to UNESCO Carmel Shama-Hacohen wrote.

“Every attempt to distort the history and harm the above mentioned relations of the Jewish people and Jerusalem, is an attempt to rewrite the history in a dangerous, unfair and one-sided manner,” he said.

Among the evidence listed in the brochure is a 9th Century BC inscription referring to the House of David, an 8th Century BC seal from King Hezekiah, and a stone etching of the Jewish Menorah from the year 66 AD found in Jerusalem..."

In two separate posts on its official Facebook page, Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Movement honored the terrorist murderer who went on a shooting spree in Jerusalem today, targeting people who were waiting at train stations from his car. Terrorist Musbah Abu Sbeih murdered a 60-year-old woman and a policeman, and injured 6.

Security Council to discuss settlements as ‘obstacle to peace’
“The existence and expansion of the settlements on Palestinians lands which were occupied in 1967 endanger a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the two-state solution,” reads a position paper distributed to participants, obtained by Israeli news site Ynet Friday.

EU questions Israel’s commitment to peace amid approval of new West Bank homes
The European Union External Action Service led by Federica Mogherini issued a statement saying the plans for new homes — meant to house settlers who are about to be evicted from the illegal outpost of Amona, under Supreme Court order — were “effectively a new settlement in the northern West Bank,” which “contradicts previous public statements by the Government of Israel that it had no intention of creating new settlements.”

It also said the plans further “undermin[e] the contiguity of a future Palestinian state.”

“The decision to continue settlement building and expansion…weakens rather than strengthens the prospects for a two-state solution to the Middle East peace process, and makes the possibility of a viable Palestinian state more remote,” the statement read, adding that “settlements are illegal under international law” and “continued settlement expansion also calls into question Israel’s commitment towards reaching a negotiated agreement with the Palestinians.

Israeli officials have said that the building plans breach no commitments, do not constitute a new settlement and would not bring more settlers into the West Bank, since the construction is for new homes for settlers who are already there.”

New York Times Op-Ed Blames Shimon Peres for…Everything
In her op-ed in the New York Times, Palestinian lawmaker Hanan Ashrawi trashes the memory of Shimon Peres, which seems more than a little absurd at time when almost the entire world is commemorating his legacy as a visionary and peacemaker. Yet Ashrawi is entitled to her opinion, as out of touch as it may be. The problem is that she also distorts the facts, and that’s not a matter of opinion.

Double Standards for Aleppo and Gaza
...While there has been some condemnation from the UN, where are the protests on the streets of European capitals and where is the media frenzy about this disgrace?
Had Israel been involved, or had the IDF aimed one solitary munition at Aleppo, I think the response would be much different.

The international community’s condemnation of the Assad regime and Putin’s Russia is nothing compared to the vitriol leveled against Israel for its far more restrained (and completely justified) 2014 operation against Hamas in Gaza...

Rosh Hashana ställer oss bland annat inför frågan: Är mitt namn skrivet i Livets bok?

 Traditionell bön under högtiden
Avinu Malkeinu,

Avinu Malkeinu (Barbra Streisands version)

Hear our prayer
We have sinned before Thee
Have compassion upon us and upon our children
Help us bring an end to pestilence, war, and famine
Cause all hate and oppression to vanish from the earth
Inscribe us for blessing in the Book Of Life
Let the new year be a good year for us
