FM Liberman on Fatah-Hamas agreement
(Communicated by the Foreign Minister’s Bureau)
In a statement issued today (Wednesday 23 April 2014), Minister of
Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman said: "Abu Mazen must decide if he
wants to make peace, and if so, with whom.
It is impossible to make peace with Israel as well as with Hamas, a
terrorist organization advocating for Israel's destruction. Signing an
agreement of a Fatah-Hamas unity government is tantamount to a signature
on the end of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian
Authority."
Hamas, Abbas's PLO announce reconciliation agreement
Israel cancels planned peace talks meeting after Fatah-Hamas unity deal announced (Jerusalem Post)
Deputy Foreign Minister Ze'ev Elkin: "There's no reason to be surprised that someone who wouldn't even discuss recognizing a Jewish state in any borders and pays massive salaries to Palestinian terrorists who murdered Israelis and sit in Israeli prison found his natural place in a bear hug with Hamas murderers,"
Netanyahu: Abbas must choose, peace with Israel or reconciliation with Hamas (Jerusalem Post
"He must choose," Netanyahu said. "Does he want reconciliation with Hamas, or peace with Israel? Only one is attainable, not both. I hope he chooses peace, until now he has not done so."
The following is the report in Ma'an on Fatah's military wing's call for armed resistance:

Fatah's military wing: "Armed resistance until the liberation of all of Palestine" (PMW)
"Fatah's military wing, the Al-Aqsa
Martyrs' Brigades, announced that they "will adhere to the option of
armed resistance until the liberation of all of Palestine," the
independent Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported. The expression "the
liberation of all of Palestine" is a common Palestinian euphemism used
to refer to the destruction of Israel.
"The
Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades (Fatah's military wing) in Palestine said
they will adhere to the option of armed resistance until the liberation
of all of Palestine.
In
a statement received by [independent Palestinian news agency] Ma'an,
the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades stated that the [period of] calm has
ended, as the occupation continues to kill, Judaize and settle. They
emphasized that the blood of the Martyrs (Shahids) will never go
unavenged. They called on President Mahmoud Abbas to stand firm and
reject the Kerry plan, [and said that] 'the Palestinian people with all
its groups and factions stand behind you against any [form of] political
extortion by the Western powers.'"
