Barn, sjuka och åldringar har uppmanats stanna inomhus på grund av hettan och dammet. Omkring 600 personer har tagits in för vård på grund av dammet och hettan.
Dammpartiklar i luften förekommer i en mängd upp till 25 gånger det normala.
Flygtrafiken till Eilat har avbrutits på grund av dammet.
Sedan Israel började bokföra väderfenomen för 75 år sedan har det inte förekommit ett liknande väder i början av september som i år.
