Netayahu kommer att åtalas för bland annat korruption, det är allvarligt men om han blir fälld i domstol återstår att se.
Det som kanske är ännu allvarligare är Netanyahus reaktion. Netanyahu anklagar polis, rättsväsendet och media för att komma med falska anklagelser för att få bort honom från premiärministerposten.
Israels premiärminister vill ge en bild av att man inte kan lita på myndigheterna i landet. Han uppmanar folket att välja mellan hans version eller myndigheternas version av vad som hänt.
Flera kommentatorer kommer med mycket allvarliga ord om situationen i Israel efter Netanyahus reaktion på åtalet mot honom.
Det verkar som om Netanyahu trots allt kommer att kämpa för att få vara kvar som premiärminister i Israel.
Oberoende av om det visar sig att Netanyahu är skyldig eller inte kommer det att medföra svåra tider för Israel. Anklagelser hit och dit om poliser och jurister som bara utnyttjar rättsväsendet för att få Netanyahu avsatt minskar förtroendet för myndigheterna och skadat samhället i stort.
Blir det dessutom en tredje valomgång kommer språkbruket nog att vara ännu fulare än hittills vilket inte vill säga lite.
