Inga planer på att förbättra förhållandena för folket, det är bara kamp som gäller. Kamp och strider på hemmaplan och på den internationella arenan. En kamp som inte kan leda till något gott för folket.

The most high-level invitee to talk during the opening night was Nickolay Mladenov, the United Nations special coordinator for the Middle East Process. He opened by calling Fatah “the soul of the Palestinian people, just as the Palestinian people are the soul of the Arab nation.” This won him applause. A bit of balanced diplomatic-speak, “Never give up until the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. A state that lives in peace, in security and mutual recognition with Israel,” was met with silence.

The Palestinian leadership plans to continue its strategy to internationalize the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by joining international institutions, PA President Mahmoud Abbas said during a long speech at the seventh Fatah General Congress in Ramallah on Wednesday...
...Later in Thursday’s speech, Abbas admitted that “popular resistance” has not taken off in Palestinian society, but said he wants to see it play a larger role in the coming years. “Where is popular, peaceful resistance? Go out to [the streets],” he said. “I say, go out; no one goes out.”...
...The congress, which will elect delegates to Fatah’s top two leadership bodies, the Central Committee and the Revolutionary Council, has excluded Fatah leaders allied with Dahlan and many other leaders critical of Abbas’s leadership.
The leaders left out of the congress say that the congress’s primary goal is to remove them and their influence from leadership roles in Fatah.

But he stressed again he “will not recognize a Jewish state,” and said Palestinian recognition of Israel “will not last forever” if Israel does not recognize a Palestinian state.

"Abu Mazen [Abbas] is talking about desisting from recognizing Israel, but he will never really recognize [Israel's] right to exist or the right for the self-determination of a Jewish homeland," Steinitz said.
“Let's not kid ourselves. From an ideological perspective, Abbas is the number one enemy of the very existence of Israel, even more so than Arafat,” he asserted.
