President Trump säger att USA skall dra tillbaka sina trupper (ca 2000 man) från Syrien eftersom IS är besegrad. Uttalandet överraskade så gott som alla.
Ett snabbt tillbakadragande skapar problem för Israel och ökar risken för ett krig mellan Israel och Iran/Hizbollah.
USA trupper i Syrien har kontrollerat ett område vid gränsen till Irak. När trupperna dras bort har Iran en öppen väg från Iran till Libanon.
De som kanske kommer att lida mest av USA:s tillbakadragande är kurderna, USA:s trognaste allierade i kampen mot IS.
