EU:s utrikesminister Catherine Ashton har väckt en del uppmärksamhet med sitt uttalande med anledning av Förintelsens minnesdag.
Orsaken är att hon lyckas utelämna ordet "judarna" från sitt uttalande.
Att uppmärksamma Förintelsen men glömma bort judarna är minst sagt märkligt och antagligen inte ett misstag.

“Today the international community remembers the victims of the Holocaust,” the EU’s top diplomat said.
“We honor every one of those brutally murdered in the darkest period of
European history. We also want to pay a special tribute to all those
who acted with courage and sacrifice to protect their fellow citizens
against persecution.”
“On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we must keep alive the memory of this
tragedy. It is an occasion to remind us all of the need to continue
fighting prejudice and racism in our own time. We must remain vigilant
against the dangers of hate speech and redouble our commitment to
prevent any form of intolerance. The respect of human rights and
diversity lies at the heart of what the European Union stands for.”

...The Holocaust was blueprinted against Jews. Not every last victim was Jewish but every Jew on earth was earmarked for death.
This was plotted against no other group – not even gypsies, some of
whom were persecuted but others left alone. It was haphazard. Much
depended on way of life, on place of residence. Ancestry, however, was
not an instant irreversible death sentence for gypsies. Only for Jews.
Only Jews were singled out for eradication because of “tainted” lineage. Their life choices were irrelevant..."
