En talesman för Israels regering säger att det är i Israels intresse att kameror skulle finnas på platsen för att bevisa att Israel inte gör något för att förändra status quo på platsen eller agerar provokativt.
De palestinska myndigheternas utrikesminister Riyad al-Maliki sade att förslaget är en fälla.
Det är lätt att förstå honom, det skulle bli betydligt svårare för palestinierna att sprida lögner om Israel om det finns bildbevis på att de ljuger.
